Addiction Professionals of North Carolina is honored to announce that Donald McDonald will be joining us as our new Executive Director. With experience in outreach, communications, collaboration, education, advocacy, and policy, we are excited to welcome his leadership. Donald is a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist and has been working in the addiction treatment and recovery field since 2010.
He brings a wealth of knowledge from his service in the United States Navy, and in his previous roles of teacher, case manager, counselor, and social worker. Most recently, Donald worked across North Carolina educating communities about substance use disorders and recovery oriented systems of care as Director of Advocacy and Education at Recovery Communities of North Carolina. He graduated from NC State with a Bachelor of Arts in English Teacher Education and holds a Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a concentration in community, management, and policy practice within the addictions certification track.
Donald McDonald is a man thriving in long-term recovery from substance use disorder for 13 years. He lives in Raleigh, NC with his wife, Jill, four children, and one grandchild.
