|This TUESDAY, APRIL 5th, the General Assembly’s Joint Administrative Procedure Oversight Committee will be meeting to discuss a draft bill that may, among other things, merge the NC Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board with the Board of Licensed Professional Counselors. This would essentially eliminate the Practice Board, and would have a devastating affect on our profession.
Members of the committee NEED to hear from substance abuse counselors concerned about this bill. Legislators are saying they haven’t heard from substance abuse counselors in the field expressing opposition to this proposal. SA professionals talk all we want with each other about how bad this legislation is, but if don’t talk with legislators about your concerns, we’re just wasting time. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, and we need to make some noise on this issue. And we NEED to make these calls by this Tuesday.
