Effective May 1st, Walter B. Jones Center, an Alcohol & Drug Abuse Treatment Center (ADATC) based in Greenville, will no longer bill for Medicaid and Medicare services for its inpatient treatment beds.
This voluntary withdrawal by Walter B. Jones Center seeks to end a long running dispute with the Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services (CMS), the federal agency overseeing both programs. CMS had argued that the facility could not continue to be certified as a psychiatric hospital if it serves patients with a primary Substance Use Disorder diagnosis.
