You did it! Thanks to your calls and emails based on last week’s action alert, the House Health Committee will hear HB 615 tomorrow, legislation supported by APNC and others which will amend the Substance Abuse Practices Act.
This bill provides several small but important changes:
- Keeps substance abuse counseling credentials uniform across state lines
- Establishes an Impaired Professionals Program, a long time goal of APNC
- Increases training opportunities for applicants and licensees to include online webinars and video conferencing
- Keeps the same number of SA Professional Practice Board members while giving the legislature and Governor some appointment opportunities
Tell them it will help the training and professional needs of substance use disorder prevention and treatment professionals by providing more training options, less bureaucracy and greater opportunities for those in this very needed field.
