About this Training:
The pace of progress in HIV treatment has not resulted in fewer stigmas for HIV positive individuals. Everyone has unique biases, fears, and deficits in knowledge. This presentation will present empirical facts and medical evidence that support a message of hope and optimism for regarding HIV. Some of the people in need of support, empowerment, and education are…addiction counselors. We have the obligation and privilege to provide clients with every available resource for recovery and wellness . . . especially regarding HIV. But how do we do that? This session will present practical steps to assess problems/needs; plan treatment; counsel effectively; coordinate/refer/consult; respond to crises; and educate. Addiction counselors will leave session empowered and informed. Attendees must be present for the entire training to receive NCSAPPB Credit Hours.

About the Presenter: Eli Branscome
Mr. Eli Branscome, LCAS, LPCS worked as a counselor at an AIDS service organization for a decade.
His volunteer and professional involvement with HIV has covered the spectrum from 1990s end-of-life transitions to 21st Century plans for unrestricted living. He was a counselor at a residential addiction treatment center before private practice.
