HUNGRY HEART with Director Bess O’Brien and Raina Lowell
Meet Bess O’Brien; director of the award winning documentary film, The Hungry Heart, and Raina Lowell—featured in the film as they host the viewing and lead an in depth discussion on where we go from here. The Hungary Heart is based on the prescription drug crises in Vermont. The film won the American Society of Addiction Medicine 2015 Award for outstanding media and was honored by Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin as the film that served as a catalyst for opiate addiction awareness in the state of Vermont.

Who Should Attend the 2016 Spring Conference?
Addiction Professionals of North Carolina is a statewide organization dedicated to helping the individual, family and community understand, prevent, and treat the disease of addiction. Our educational conferences, held each year in the fall and spring, are designed for Counselors, Prevention Specialists, DWI Assessors, Psychologists, Therapists, EAP consultants, Social Workers, Educators, Students, and others interested in the field.
Continuing Education Credits (NCSAPPB & CEU/CE)
We have applied to NC Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board (NCSAPPB) for up to 18 hours of credit for the three days. Individual credit will be awarded for each session attended, and NCSAPPB credit is included with conference registration.
CE Credits are also available for an additional $20.00. Continuing Education Credit is sponsored by Program Services Continuing Education for Licensed Psychologists, Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, Professional Counselors, Mental Health Counselors, Addiction Professionals. For more information about approvals visit the approval page at www.programservices.org. Psychologists need to attend the entire event – partial credit is not available to psychologists due to requirements of the American Psychological Association. Program Services is an approved sponsor of continuing education with the American Psychological Association. Program Services remains responsible for the content of the program.
